“Inside the Board Room: Reflections of a Former School Board Member,” the latest book by Howard Good (Journalism), has been published by Rowman & Littlefield Education. Good drew on his experience serving on the Highland School Board from 1997 to 2003 to compose the 20 essays that examine such educational issues as civic education and the decline of reading and writing skills.

William Rhoads (Art History, Emeritus) published the essay, "Hervey White and the Architecture of the Maverick," in The Maverick: Hervey White's Colony of the Arts, a catalog of the Maverick exhibition on view through Nov. 5 at the Woodstock Artists Association. In researching White's architecture, Rhoads used material from the Gaede/Striebel Archive on extended loan to the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art from the Center for Photography at Woodstock..

Presentations, Exhibitions

Glenn Geher (Psychology) chaired a symposium, “Mating Intelligence: Toward an Evolutionarily Informed Construct,” at the 18th annual meeting of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society in Philadelphia. He also presented his paper, “Mating Intelligence Conceptualized as Adaptive Cross-Sex Mind- Reading,” at the June conference. Elisabeth DeWispelaere ’06 (Psychology), Jill Lavallee ’05 (Psychology) and Regina Musicaro (Psychology) co-authored the paper. As undergraduates, DeWispelaere and Lavallee received Summer Undergraduate Research Experience grants to support their work on the project. Geher also co-authored an article in the 2006 Journal of Social Psychology titled, “Differential effects of reciprocity and attitude similarity across long versus shortterm mating contexts,” with Andrew Lehr ’02, ’04g (Psychology), who conducted the research as part of his master’s thesis under the direction of Geher.
