Liberal Arts and Sciences names 2006 Teachers of the Year

Joel Lefkowitz (Political Science) and Larry Carr (English) are the 2005-2006 Teachers of the Year for the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, according to Gerald Benjamin (Dean, Liberal Arts and Sciences).

Lefkowitz was chosen from among the college’s full-time professors. He is an associate professor and has taught at the college for seven years. Carr was selected from among the part-time teachers. He has taught dramatic and creative writing at New Paltz for 10 years.

Their names will be added to the “Teacher of the Year” plaque, located in the lobby of the Jacobson Faculty Tower, and $1,000 from the college’s budget will be set aside for each professor to use for professional development.

Selection for this annual award is based on recommendations from a Liberal Arts and Sciences Senate committee.
