Research symposium seeks student submissions

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will host the annual Student Research Symposium (SRS) from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 28.

The symposium recognizes the scholarship of students, both undergraduate and graduate, in all academic disciplines. Students who have participated under faculty supervision as part of a senior seminar, independent study or supervised work to produce original, independent research, critical reviews, laboratory projects or field studies are invited to submit their work for presentation.

Conference events include a keynote presentation by Louise-Anne McNutt, professor of sociology at the State University of New York at Albany.

McNutt focuses on research ethics and the study of HIV treatments and geographic availability. Her teaching methods address that research and ethics are often taught separately, which can restrict the ability to see the working relationship of both areas.

To present at the symposium, applicants must describe research in an abstract. Instructions for submissions can be found at www.newpaltz.edu/srs along with a sample abstract.
