Five representatives from Nanjing University in China visited
the New Paltz campus in the discussion phase of a dual degree
program between the university and the State University of New
York (SUNY) system.

The program might be similar to the dual degree program the
state university system has with the Turkish Higher Education
Council (YÖK) where students divide their studies between a
Turkish university and an American college.

The Nanjing representatives met with President Steven
Poskanzer
, Provost David Lavallee, College of Liberal Arts
and Sciences Dean Gerald Benjamin, Asian Studies faculty
members Kristine Harris, Yoni Schwartz and Ron Knapp
(Emeritus), International Student Program director Beth Vargas
and Center for International Programs Dean Bruce Sillner to
discuss cooperation between the colleges and having Chinese
students study at New Paltz.
