Monthly tips from the Assistant Director of Fire Safety - Enviromental Health and Safety Office

An important task for Scott Schulte, the new assistant director of Environmental Health and Safety for Fire Safety, is to educate the campus about fire prevention.

He will work with News Pulse to provide monthly fire safety tips in an effort to develop a comprehensive awareness and training program that informs the faculty and staff of potential and real fire dangers.

The first fire safety tip will appear in the March 12 issue of News Pulse.

Schulte works with various fire prevention agencies, including the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control and the New Paltz Fire Department. He also develops programs and policies, such as emergency evacuation, fire protection and detection and emergency procedures.

Schulte began working at the college in 2002 with University Police. He brings to his new job 10 years of experience as a volunteer fireman and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

He joins Brian Colandrea, director; Karen Vacca, assistant director; and Erin Stewart, keyboard specialist, in the Environmental Health and Safety Office.
