School of Business dean named provost at the College of Saint Rose

04/12/2013

NEW PALTZ - Dr. Hadi Salavitabar, dean of the School of Business, will be leaving New Paltz on July 1 to become Provost at the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY. Salavitabar lead the seven years of preparation for accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). AACSB Accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. Less than 5% of the world's 13,000 business programs have earned AACSB Accreditation. AACSB culminates the many contributions that Salavitabar has made to build a world class business program at New Paltz.

New Paltz will begin work immediately to identify interim leadership for the School of Business and to launch a national search for a new dean. New Paltz is committed to ensuring strong leadership for the School of Business during this transition, and to being sure that students continue to have the exceptional educational opportunities for which the School of Business has become known.

Salavitabar joined New Paltz in 1982 and has served the institution for 31 years. As first dean of the School of Business, Salavitabar helped start the School of Business in 2001 and established the MBA programs in 2000. AACSB international accreditation was achieved in 2013.

Salavitabar noted, “I have a deep affection for New Paltz, and it has been rewarding for me to lead such an outstanding group of faculty and students in the School of Business, as well as to have the strong support of the regional business community.”

“We are all grateful for the many contributions that Dr. Salavitabar has made to SUNY New Paltz, the School of Business, our students, and the broader community. Please join me in wishing him well in his new position. We will plan a reception for members of the community to thank Dean Salavitabar and wish him farewell,” stated New Paltz Provost Philip Mauceri.
