08/26/1998
NEW PALTZ -- "Recollections," a play by Jon Raskin, a faculty member in the psychology department at the State University of New York at New Paltz, was selected for presentation later this week at the sixth annual Playwright/Director's Workshop, in Montrose, NY. Performed by the Hand-to-Mouth Players, Raskin's one-act will be staged at the FDR Theatre on August 28-30.
"Recollections" is a four-character play which, says Raskin, "I wrote at the tail end of my graduate school studies. It was the first time I had a chance to do creative writing since I was an undergraduate," he said.
"Recollections" is about an engaged couple having an argument. While that couple discusses memories of events they have shared, another couple, also on stage, acts out different versions as described by each member of the engaged couple.
The play will be performed at 8 p.m. on Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29, and again at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 30.
The FDR Theatre is located on the grounds of the Veterans Administration Hospital, off Rte 9A, in Montrose.
