Kevin Rickard is SUNY New Paltz salutatorian

NEW PALTZ -- The State University of New York at New Paltz will hold its fall commencement exercises from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., this Saturday, Dec 21, at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie.

Kevin Rickard of Poughkeepsie is the graduating class' salutatorian. Rickard has a 3.98 grade point average and will receive his Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies.

Rickard spent one year studying Spanish at Dutchess County Community College before transferring to SUNY New Paltz. He also spent one year in Guayaquil, Equador, in a study abroad program. After graduation, Rickard plans to join the Army and study Chinese.
