News conference with Ann Cooper and Jim Ottaway Jr.

NEW PALTZ -- The State University of New York will host a news conference at noon on Thursday, Oct. 17, in the reading lounge of the Coykendall Science Building (room 54) to introduce Ann Cooper as the third James H. Ottaway Sr. Endowed Professor in Journalism.
Participants will include:
Ann Cooper, award-winning reporter who currently directs the Committee to Protect Journalists, the foremost advocacy group in the world that seeks to protect endangered journalists. Cooper, who has worked for more than 25 years as a journalist, has also taught journalism at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Cooper has reported for The Louisville Courier-Journal, the Capitol Hill News Service, The Congressional Quarterly, and The Baltimore Sun.
Jim Ottaway Jr., chief executive officer of Ottaway Newspapers, Inc. Ottaway made the donation that supports the endowed professorship.
