NEW PALTZ -- The State University of New York at New Paltz recently promoted Michele Halstead of Stone Ridge to the position of assistant vice president in the Administration Division.
Halstead was selected for the position after a regional search. She has been with SUNY New Paltz for 12 years, and has served as the director of accounting services for the last three years.
"Michele's knowledge of the SUNY Accounting and Budget System, and good communication and interpersonal skills make her ideal for this position," said Johanna D'Aleo, vice president for Administration.
The assistant vice president's duties consist of monitoring campus financial activities and assisting with the budget process. In this position, Halstead will be responsible for New Paltz' accounting, payroll, purchasing, and student accounts departments.
Halstead replaces Nick Lyons, who left New Paltz for a promotion to vice president for Administration at SUNY Oswego.
