Anne Moss named Interim VP for Advancement at SUNY New Paltz

04/26/2000

NEW PALTZ -- Anne Moss of Warwick, New York will serve as Interim Vice President for Advancement at SUNY New Paltz beginning May 1. Advancement includes the offices of Development, Alumni Affairs, Printing and Publications, Public Affairs, and the SUNY New Paltz Foundation. She succeeds Richard S. Podgorski who has accepted a development position in California.

In making the appointment, SUNY New Paltz President Roger W. Bowen described Moss as "the consummate public relations professional." She serves as the spokesperson for several major corporations and also hosts "Center Court with Rene Portland," a post-game program on the Penn State Sports Network televised weekly during the basketball season. Moss formerly owned and operated Palmer-Moss Productions, a New York City firm specializing in fashion show and event production.

"The Advancement Division is an essential part of the renaissance currently underway on campus," said Bowen. "This year the Foundation is on track to surpass its goal of raising $1.5 million in support of scholarships and other beneficial programs. Anne Moss is uniquely well-qualified to lead this effort while a national search is underway for a new vice president. I am most grateful to her for assuming this important role on campus."

Moss serves on numerous community and civic boards. She is currently first vice president of the Arts Council of Orange County, a member of the Orange County Parks Strategic Planning Task Force, and a second-term trustee of the SUNY New Paltz Foundation. She has had extensive fundraising experience in service to these and other non-profit organizations.

"As a member of the SUNY New Paltz Foundation Board, I am both familiar with and proud of the progress the campus has made under the leadership of Rick Podgorski in the Office of Advancement," Moss stated. "It is with great enthusiasm that I accept the opportunity to serve as Interim Vice President for Advancement during the search for Rick's permanent replacement. I am honored to assist SUNY New Paltz through this transitional phase and will work closely with the administration and staff to capitalize on the momentum Rick inspired."

Moss is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Howard University and holds a B.S. degree in Microenvironmental Studies in Design. She also studied news writing and journalism at Penn State. She and her husband Jim have two children, Bradley 13 and Kelsey 11.
