NEW PALTZ -- The Friends of the Sojourner Truth Library at SUNY New Paltz announced recently that more than $60,000 has been raised from contributions since the group's founding in 1996.
"We are delighted that so many people have chosen to help the Sojourner Truth Library achieve the margin of excellence that only private donations can bring about," said Paul Brown, chairman of the Friends of the Library Steering Committee, at the group's Annual Donor Recognition Reception on April 28. "The Library is truly a shared resource which benefits all the residents of the mid-Hudson region." Contributions made to the Friends of the Sojourner Truth Library are used to purchase important texts and collections and to support the latest electronic technologies.
Brown also announced the inauguration of the Friends' Honor with Books program, which allows donors to commemorate important events and honor beloved individuals. Honor with Books contributors will have their gift memorialized by special bookplates bearing an inscription of their choice. A copy of the bookplate will be sent to the honored individual.
"Donors will have the satisfaction of knowing that they are marking meaningful events and honoring special people while also supporting the Sojourner Truth Library and contributing to student scholarships," Brown explained.
