09/13/2000
NEW PALTZ -- SUNY New Paltz went live to the public this morning with the launch of its new "virtual" tour at the university's web site, http://www.newpaltz.edu. The electronic tour can be accessed directly at http://www.newpaltz.edu/vtour.
This new addition to the web site is the result of a year of collaboration between the SUNY New Paltz Web Team, university personnel in the offices of admissions, residence life, campus auxiliary services and public affairs & publications, and Light & Power Communications Ltd. of Schenectady, N.Y.
"The virtual tour is not only a great resource for prospective students, but alumni will use it to keep in touch and see what's new at the university, and current students will be able to show off their campus to their families and friends at home," said L. David Eaton, vice president of enrollment management at New Paltz.
Descriptive text, creative photography, Flash animation, audible clips and QuickTime panoramic video clips enable visitors to peruse the 216-acre campus and the university's majors and programs, sports and athletics, buildings and residence halls, classrooms and laboratories, and a few areas of the village of New Paltz as well.
Located in the heart of a dynamic college town, 90 minutes from metropolitan New York City, the State University of New York at New Paltz is a highly selective college of about 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
One of the most well-regarded public colleges in the nation, New Paltz delivers an extraordinary number of majors in Business, Liberal Arts, Sciences, Engineering, Fine and Performing Arts and Education.
New Paltz embraces its culture as a community where talented and independent minded people from around the world create close personal links with real scholars and artists who love to teach.
