SUNY NEW PALTZ APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS

NEW PALTZ -- Mary Claire Bauer, formerly of Buffalo, NY, has been appointed director of admissions at the State University of New York at New Paltz.

As the director of admissions, Bauer is responsible for the development and implementation of recruitment and enrollment strategies. She is responsible for maintaining all standards, policies, and procedures for freshman admissions at SUNY New Paltz.

Bauer comes to New Paltz from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, where she had served for 15 years in the admissions office, her most recent position being senior associate director of admissions. Before that, she was an HEOP counselor at Niagara University. She also served as an academic adviser at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

She earned her bachelor of arts in 1973 and her master's degree in 1977 from SUNY Buffalo. She is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the National Association for College Admissions Counseling, the American Council on Education, and the New York State Association of College Admissions Counselors who recognized Bauer with the group's Distinguished Service Award in 1996.
