New Paltz selects Interim Dean of the School of Business

NEW PALTZ - Dr. Chih-Yang Tsai has been appointed Interim Dean of the School of Business effective July 1, 2013. He will serve in this capacity while a national search is conducted for a new dean. Tsai is the Associate Dean and Associate Professor of the School of Business. He received the School of Business Distinguished Service Award in 2010, and has taught at New Paltz for 20 years and served as associate dean for 7 years.

As associate dean, Tsai has led continuous improvement programs, mentored students, and facilitated educational assessment activities. Under his guidance, the School of Business received Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AACSB) accreditation, which represents the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees. Fewer than five percent of the world's business programs have earned AACSB accreditation.
Before coming to New Paltz, Tsai served as an Assistant to the CEO and Production Controller at the Tatung Company, a Taiwan based multi-national organization. He has also worked as an Operations Management and Marketing Research consultant.
"Associate Dean Chih-Yang Tsai is well placed to lead the School of Business during this interim period," said Provost Philip Mauceri." Dr. Tsai has played an active leadership role during Hadi Salivitabar's deanship, and I am confident that he will continue to advance the rigorous education of our students and the strong relationships with the business community that have been hallmarks of our School of Business."
Tsai received his Ph.D.in Operations Research from New York University and his M.B.A. in Operations Management and B.S. in Business Administration from Tatung University in Taiwan.
“I hope to continue improving our curriculum and programs and maintain our already close relationship with the business community,” said Tsai.
The School of Business, an accredited member of AACSB International, offers Bachelor of Science degrees in accounting, finance, general business, international business, marketing, and management, as well as a Master in Business Administration (MBA) and an MBA in public accountancy to about 950 undergraduate and graduate students.
Dr. Tsai will be naming soon an interim associate dean for the School of Business.
