Undergraduate Concentrations: BA or BS

The Department of Music at SUNY New Paltz offers comprehensive programs of study leading to the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in music.

All programs within the department are fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music or the American Music Therapy Association.

Students seeking the bachelor’s degree in music can pursue one of five outstanding concentrations:

• Performance
• Music History and Literature
• Music Theory and Composition
• Jazz Studies
• Contemporary Music Studies (includes pre-Music Therapy track)
  

An accelerated option is available in Contemporary Music Studies which allows students to complete the degree in three years. A minor in music is also available.
