| Luis Alonso was born in 1928 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He studied at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas under José Alicea and Lorenzo Homar. In 1974 he began work at the Taller de Gráfica of the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña as a printer and graphic designer.
