| Sixto Cotto was born in 1955 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He was a student of José Alicea and Antonio Martorell at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas of the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña. In 1980 he opened his own workshop the Taller Guaní for the production of posters. When health problems prevented José Alicea from printing his own work he entrusted this task to Sixto Cotto.
