Undergraduate Admissions

electroformingUndergraduate students interested in pursuing the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Metal must present a portfolio for admittance to the Program. Internal students come for an interview, which usually occurs just prior to pre-registration for the following semester. Applicants have taken one or more classes in Metal at New Paltz, prior to applying to the program. External transfer students submit slide portfolios, and they often come to campus for interviews as well. Placement within the Program is determined by transcript and by level of accomplishment as evident in the portfolio. It is generally understood that the Metal portion of the overall plan of study takes two years to complete.
