CODE OF CONDUCT SUNY New Paltz Rugby Football Club Players Code of Conduct ![]() 1. I recognize that use of the University Fields and Facilities are a privilege not a right. This privilege may be revoked or restricted by the University and/or the Team Leadership at any time. 2. I agree to be prepared mentally and physically for training sessions and matches. 3. I agree that I will be alcohol free during all training sessions and matches. In addition I will be alcohol free during the 24 hours preceding a match. 4. I will treat my teammates with respect at all times 5. I will treat the Coaching Staff, University Representatives and Opponents with respect at all times. 6. I will honor University placed field restrictions due to snow/rain and or wet conditions and will encourage non rugby players to do the same 7. I will be present 5 minutes prior to all training sessions. 8. I will be ready to train at the time training sessions begin. a. I agree to have the following with me and available for use at all indoor and outdoor training sessions: Rugby Jersey, Rugby Shorts, Rugby Cleats, Socks, Mouthpiece, Non Marking Running shoes and any personal protective equipment needed to perform the task of a rugby player. 9. I will police all training and match areas after each training session and or matches. 10. I recognize that training equipment is University and Team property and will maintain it with care. 11. I will leave personal disagreements off of the training field, track or gym. 12. I will maintain self control at all time while at training and at matches. 13. I will observe the Rules of the Game during matches. 14. I will observe the rule of fair play during matches 15. I will treat the match officials with utmost respect before during and after matches 16.
When wearing Team Gear on and off campus, I
will ensure
that the garments are clean and presentable at all times. Any
Garments bearing team logo or letters may not be worn off campus
without team leadership approval. 17.
I will conduct myself as an ambassador of the
University, the New Paltz Rugby Team and the Sport of Rugby when off campus. 18.
I recognize that when visiting another University or
College I am a guest of these institutions and will be behave with respect and
concern for the well being of the facilities, students and visitors there. 19.
I will use appropriate language when representing my
sport in public places. I will not
tolerate inappropriate language in others in such settings. 20.
I will abide by the instructions of my coaches and team
officials in keeping with the spirit
of this code. Violations Violations of the
Code of Conduct will be formally noted in the form of a 'citing'. Players may be cited by teammates, officials,
University representatives, opposing teams/coaches, or by any member of the on
or off field SUNY New Paltz community. Cited players must,
if they wish to remain members of the New Paltz Rugby Football Club, appear
before the NPRFC Disciplinary Committee. At this appearance
cited players will have the opportunity to explain the circumstances
surrounding the alleged violation of the Code of Conduct. The Disciplinary
Committee will have an obligation to the team and the University to thoroughly
investigate the alleged violation. At the end of the
Committees investigation the player in question will be recalled to
meet with
the committee at which time a decision will be
announced and appropriate
sanctions made against the Player as deemed
necessary by the Committee . The Disciplinary
Committee will be populated by the following elected team members: The Club President and the Club
Captains. The Committee may appoint up
to three additional members on an as needed basis. Penalties Minor offence: Failure to abide by simple team rules. 1st occurrence: Fitness task assigned by the Captains. 2nd occurrence: Team fitness task assigned by the Coach. Repeat offender Game ban decided by the Committee. Moderate offence: Fighting, arguing, refusal to follow instructions, alcohol related issues. 1st occurrence: Team fitness task assigned by the Coach 2nd occurrence: Game ban decided by the Committee Repeat offender: Season long ban, possible removal from Club Major offence: Causing injury to oneself or others, property damage, any behavioral issue that reflects poorly on the team or major breech of team contract. 1st occurrence: Multi game ban, possible removal from the Club 2nd occurrence: Year long ban, possible removal from the Club Repeat offender: Removal from Club
