Scudder Hall (1962)

Scudder Hall is a residence hall within the Parker complex. The Parker complex is composed of the traditional corridor style hallways with a single sex bathroom shared by all residents of the floor or house which is maintained by the Custodial Staff. Students who live in the corridor style buildings enjoy a lot of activity and interaction with the members of their house. Students may personalize their environment by painting the corridors with a house theme mural. Lounges can be found on each of the floors.

Located in the basement is a study lounge, recycling room, and two laundry rooms with washers and dryers. On the second and third floors are TV lounges. Vending machines, a microwave oven and the main lounge (with cooking facilities and two computers) are located in the lobby on the first floor of Scudder Hall.

Scudder Hall is a 24-hour contract study building. The contract study building option is offered to create an atmosphere that is highly conducive to sleep and study. Upon checking into the hall each resident voluntarily signs a separate study contract by which he/she agrees to abide by policies and regulations enforcing 24-hour quite conditions.

Located in the center of the Parker complex, Scudder Hall provides its residents with a convenient walking distance to classrooms, dining facilities, gym, outdoor tennis and volleyball courts, and administrative buildings.

History: The hall is named for Myron Tracy Scudder, the third principal of New Paltz Normal (1899-1908). Scudder began the New Paltz tradition of hosting international students and also began the New Paltz intercollegiate athletic program.
