Visitors of SUNY New Paltz students spent $491,625 in the 2005-2006 academic year on lodging and meals. This expenditure led to an impact of $912,602 in the Hudson Valley and $984,877 in New York State. Additionally, in the 2005-2006 academic year: the SUNY New Paltz School of Fine & Performing Arts estimated that 27,000 visitors attended events and venues; the SUNY New Paltz’s Admissions Office reported over 19,000 registered visitors; the SUNY New Paltz Commencement Office reported that there were 1,360 guests at the December Commencement held in Poughkeepsie, and 4,200 guests at the May ceremony held on campus; the Student Affairs Office listed 1,000 students and 770 parents who attended the Summer 2006 Freshman Orientation; and according to the Intercollegiate Athletic Department, 13,330 people used the gym through camps, special requests and programs.¹ For 2006–2007, the number of physical visits to the Sojourner Truth Library totaled 356,219. Non-campus patrons account for at least 5% of the library attendance in 2006 (approximately 17,810 visits).
