As the third-largest employer in Ulster
County, New Paltz employs 1,738 people,
full and part time, which includes individuals
directly employed by the College—faculty,
staff, adjuncts, graduate assistants, and
temporary service employees—as well
as Campus Auxiliary Services (CAS),
Sodexo Food Service, Research
Foundation, the Bookstore and the Student
Association. Additionally, the College
employs 1,794 student workers and
work-study students.
These salaries represent a total expenditure of $67.5 million, 92% of which ($62.3 million) is paid directly in the Hudson Valley, with an additional 7% paid within New York State. As a result, 99% ($66.6 million) of salaries paid stay in New York State. The direct and indirect impact of these expenditures translates to $128.7 million into the Hudson Valley economy and $143.7 million to New York State.
