Join the Language Immersion Institute for summer foreign language instruction on the campus of SUNY New Paltz. This historic village in the Mid-Hudson valley was settled by the French Huguenots in the 1600's and boasts unusual stone houses, picturesque mountains and clear glacial lakes. New Paltz is home to miles of hiking and mountain-biking trails, and world-class rock climbing. Nestled in the shadow of the Shawangunk ridge, New Paltz's unique downtown area has comfortable cafés and eclectic shops. A serene mountain setting combined with an artistic community creates a wonderful retreat for foreign language instruction.

Class Schedule
Each two-week session provides a total of 50 hours of classroom instruction based on a communicative approach. LII emphasizes practical, conversational skills in order for students to come away from the program with an array of functional skills.
Classes meet Monday through Friday on the New Paltz campus, five hours a day, 9AM to 2 PM, for 2 weeks, providing a total of 50 hours of instruction. Each session starts with an orientation Monday morning. Classes are supplemented by practice in the language laboratory and cultural activities

Meals
Meals are not included in the above fees. Food is available on campus, and there are a number of restaurants in New Paltz that are within walking distance of the campus
Cancellations
A language course may be cancelled because of insufficient enrollment. Whenever possible, participants will be enrolled in alternate classes, or a full refund will be issued. Individuals cancelling more than two weeks before the start of class will receive a refund.
