HOW WILL THE STORY CHANGE?
Using the book Wait! No Paint! by Bruce Whatley for inspiration, we will explore the many choices authors and illustrators make by playing with ideas and seeing what happens...
SHOW, NOT TELL!
We'll tap into our creativity and use our imaginations to strengthen our writing (and make it more fun!) by showing with descriptive words and images rather than stating thing directly.
For writers ages 11-17:
What happens when we write from different perspectives about the same event? We'll use visual thinking strategies to examine a historic image and then write a creative piece from the perspective of a character within it.
ENCYCLOPEDIA OF YOU
You will not find this encyclopedia in your local library. In this workshop, we will look at how authors develop authentic voice when writing about an informational topic, and then write entries fro our own community encyclopedia.
SOWING SEEDS: Cultivating Writing Ideas from Personal Experience
Spend a morning with others exploring and writing memories and experiences from your own life. We will explore a variety of prompts through multimedia -- from drawings, video, and picture books to poetry, memoir, and personal essay.
