SATURDAY YOUNG WRITERS' WORKSHOP
AT SUNY NEW PALTZ
April 26, 2014
The Hudson Valley Writing Project is delighted to offer a Saturday writing workshop for students ages 7-17 on April 26th, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
With creative inspiration from some of the region's finest teachers, students will draft, revise, refine, and share their work in a small group setting.
No pressure, let's play! In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to create short memoirs, metaphors, and a random autobiography by moving words and putting them together to see what happens.
THE CREATURES ARE COMING!
Find out what's hiding in the scrap pile! Using bits of paper and a little imagination, you will discover the world of collage and poetry, creating a creature and giving it voice.
CAN YOU WRITE A 25-WORD STORY?
How can we get the most mileage out of fewest words? We'll have fun exploring "hint stories" and then write fuller stories that help readers to think in new ways.
YES, YOU CAN WRITE POETRY!
We will learn to read poems in a new way, looking closely to see how they are made, then use our imaginations and creativity to write our own versions.
