lynda_logo    SUNY New Paltz recently signed a one-year contract with Lynda.com, an online library of more than 4,000 instructional videos covering the latest software, creative and business skills.  Taught by accomplished teachers and recognized industry experts, Lynda.com tutorials are high-quality resources for faculty, staff, and students to develop skills in Microsoft office, Adobe Creative Suite, project management, communication, and more.

Computer Security

Email Tips and Best Practices:
Have you ever received an email that seemed rude or abrupt, or maybe you weren't even sure what it was about or what to do with it? Did you ever hit "Reply All" when you didn't mean to, or hit "Send" when you weren't finished writing the email?

We've been using email for well over 20 years, making up the rules as we've gone along. In this session we'll share some guidelines on how to effectively write and respond to emails in a way that is clear, concise, and polite, and offer suggestions on ways to avoid technology mistakes when drafting and sending emails.

Effective Telephone Skills:
We use the phone every day, but what is the message we're giving to callers? How do you deal with "difficult" callers? In this workshop we'll review some of the basics of managing telephone inquiries, and then share ideas for successfully handling demanding, angry, or overly talkative callers.

Workplace Violence Prevention:
All employees are required to review Workplace Violence Prevention annually (i.e., each calendar year). Employees may meet this requirement either through online training or by attending instructor-led sessions. The online training module can be accessed under "Workplace Violence Prevention and Procedure Presentation" on my.newpaltz.edu.
