Duties: The Department of Digital Media and Journalism at the State University of New York at New Paltz invites applications for a renewable Lecturer in Digital Media Production position, beginning in Fall 2018.
We seek a person who can teach courses in our Digital Media Production major. Desired areas of specialization are digital cinematography, lighting, editing, and ethical/legal considerations of new media. The candidate should be able to teach effectively in both fundamental and advanced digital media production courses at an undergraduate level. The successful applicant will be expected to teach 30 credit hours of coursework, or the equivalent, during the academic year. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach courses such as: Media and Society, Digital Storytelling, Introduction to Media Programming and Management, Audio Production, and Field Production. ~College-level teaching experience is required, and the ability to teach a broad array of courses is essential;
~Expertise in current software (i.e., Avid, ProTools, After Effects), technology, trends, and practices within converging media industries in the US and globally
~ A Ph.D. or MFA is preferred; candidates with an MA and considerable professional experience will be considered;
~ Professional media industry experience;
~ Capacity to effectively teach fundamental production theory related courses at an undergraduate level;
~ Commitment to exploring the broader social dimensions of media production theory in a global context;
~ Audio production expertise
