Duties: The department of Music at the State University of New York at New Paltz invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in Fall 2013.
Duties: Teach undergraduate applied and class piano; coordinate class piano sequence; teach other courses in the areas of music history and/or music theory; advise music students in their major and general education requirements; participate in the department’s course offerings and programs as a recitalist, accompanist and ensemble member. Active scholarship, committed teaching and service in standing department and college committees is expected and required for tenure.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. or D.M.A. is preferred, Master’s in piano performance or equivalent required. Successful candidates will have demonstrated expertise in an academic area such as music history or music theory; significant professional performing experience; college-level classroom teaching experience; computer skills; an ongoing, active performing career. Candidates who bring diverse cultural experience and who are especially qualified to mentor and advise all members of our diverse student population are especially encouraged to apply.
