Duties: The Department of Communication and Media at SUNY New Paltz invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor to teach and conduct research in interpersonal communication beginning August 2010. The successful candidate will be trained in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and capable of teaching some combination of the following undergraduate courses from a social scientific perspective: Interpersonal Communication, Conflict Management, Nonverbal Communication, Family Communication, Communication Research Methods, and Senior Seminar in Interpersonal Communication. In addition, the faculty member will be expected to establish a strong program of research and scholarship, to advise students, and to contribute to the life and work of the department and the college.

Qualifications: Ph.D. required, but exceptional ABD applicants will be considered; teaching experience is highly desired. Diverse cultural experiences and ability to mentor and advise women and minority students are considered an asset.
