COMMENTS

1 Lincoln's Birthday and Election Day are "floating holidays" (unless notified differently) for M/C employees, non-teaching professional faculty, and employees represented by CSEA and PS&T.  Employees in the Security  Services and Security Supervisors negotiating units will observe Lincoln's Birthday as a fixed holiday.

2 Under the Attendance Rules, when a holiday falls on a Sunday, it is observed on the following Monday.

3 Veterans' Day:

  • Full-time employees who are entitled to observe holidays, and for whom Saturday, November 11 is a regular day off, should be credited with holiday compensatory time.
  • Security Services Unit and APSU members should be credited with an additional day of vacation.
  • Part-time employees who are eligible to observe holidays and who are regularly scheduled to work Fridays will be credited with holiday leave equivalent to the number of hours in the employee's regular Friday schedule (not to exceed 7.5 or 8 hours).

4 Non-essential staff may take the day off and charge their time with supervisory approval.

Notes:

Eligible veterans and former reservists have certain other options for Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veteran's Day. Employees may inquire in the Payroll Department for more information.  Eligibility for part-time employees to be paid or earn holiday leave may depend on the regular work schedule of the employee in accordance with bargaining agreements.
