Graphic Design classes are conducted in the Smiley Art Building and the Old Library Building.

The Old Library Building on the southern end of the SUNY New Paltz campus, houses the departments of Design, Photography and VRL [the Visual Research Laboratory, an Intermedia MFA program].

Resources at Old Library include

a 24-station Macintosh computer lab used for classes and otherwise open to students, with two flatbed scanners, black & white and color laser printers, a cd burner, and video projection set-up. Software includes the Adobe Typeface library, QuarkXPress, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Director, Dreamweaver, Final Cut, Fireworks, Flash, Fontographer, GoLive, InDesign, PageMaker, SoundEdit, Word; all computers have internet access
a 5-station Macintosh computer lab for the exclusive use of VRL graduate students, with flatbed and slide scanner
hi-res roll-fed color printers
Extensive bookbinding facilities
a variety of photographic and video equipment; BFA students in Design and Photography and VRL students have preferential borrowing privileges
Non-silver, black & white, color and graduate darkrooms

SUNY New Paltz's Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, with an active schedule of exhibitions and lectures, is another valuable resource for design students.
