Students apply to and begin their studies in the Art Department's Bachelor of Science in Visual Arts program. Students beyond first-semester freshmen are then eligible to enroll in Graphic Design classes.
Undergraduate students pursuing the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design must present a portfolio for admittance to the program. Portfolio reviews take place every semester, just prior to pre-registration for the following semester. Applicants are expected to have completed 2 to 3 Graphic Design courses at New Paltz. Placement within the program is determined by transcript and by level of accomplishment as evident in the portfolio.
Please refer to the program Overview or Curriculum page for more information about the nature of the undergraduate program in Graphic Design.
