Minutes of the November 11, 2003
Meeting
David Blankership, Jason Carter, Ben Endres, Lisa Chase,
Glenn Geher, Russell Hilliard, Yoav Kaddar, Deb Miller, Chih-Yang Tsai, Greg
Wirszyla, Mohammad Zunoubi
- Minutes
of the October 28 meeting were unanimously approved as amended.
- Announcement:
- Barbara
Hardgrave requested the committee to present its report in February
faculty meeting to present recommended upcoming calendars and other
business relevant to the committee.
- Organization
Committee revised the membership of Academic Standing Committees in
accordance with the current by-laws.
- Glenn
announced that the issue of whether to organize an SEI subcommittee and
what role the subcommittee plays will be discussed later.
- Three
versions of 2005-2006 academic calendar were distributed by Deb Miller,
2005 H1 (with both religious and federal holidays), 2005 H2 (with
religious holidays but no federal holidays), and 2005 NH (No religious and
federal holidays).
- Committee
members approved the motion to present two versions, one with and the
other without holidays, to Academic Senate. The issue of whether the committee should endorse one of the
two is left for future discussions.
This motion was approved unanimously.
- The
committee approved the revised 2005 H2 for Fall 2005. (The revision changes October 3 from a
no-class-after-3:00PM day to a no-class day. Oct. 3 classes are made up on Dec. 12 and calendar events on
and after Dec. 12 are pushed back by one day. Without the revision, there would have been two no-class-after-3:00PM
days competing for the study day to make up classes.)
- The
next meeting is scheduled on Nov. 25.
Depending on the progress, we may need one more meeting in
December.
Meeting adjourned at 12:25pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Chih-Yang Tsai
