Academic Affairs Committee (ACC) Meeting HUM 120
March 23, 2004
Present: David Blankenship, Lisa Chase, Ben Endres, Wilma
Feliciano, Glenn Geher (Chair), Yoav Kaddar, Jason Larsen, Bernadette Morris
(Proxy for Debra Miller, Greg Wirszyla, Mohammad Zunoubi.
The meeting began at 11:35 AM. Minutes of February 17 meeting were
approved without changes. Minutes of March 2 meeting were approved
with minor changes and pending further discussions.
Announcements
· Glenn Geher informed the committee of the “time
capsule” event to be taking place on April 13 and moved the meeting scheduled
for that day to April 27, 2004.
· Bernadette Morris was asked and accepted the responsibility
of reserving HUM 120 for the April 27 meeting.
Commentary
· The issue of academic affairs unbiased opinion
on different academic calendars (holidays, non-holidays) proposed by the
committee was discussed again.
Discussions on Diversity Calendars:
Items on minutes of March 2 meeting related to the diversity calendars were
discussed and changed as following:
· Item C1 was changed to “…. We propose that the
office of the president or the president’s cabinet works out …..”.
· Item C2 was changed.
With the above changes made, the academic affairs committee unanimously approved
for Glenn Geher to submit the lateral part of the March 2 minutes that addresses
the diversity calendars to the office of the president.
Discussions on SEI:
· Greg Wirszyla, the Chair of the SEI Ad-Hoc Committee,
presented two SEI survey forms one to be filled by the students and the other
by the professors. The academic affairs committee started discussing
the forms.
The meeting ended at 12:28 PM.
