Geology Story

Students Analyze Asymmetrical Folds for Practical Field Experience

12/12/2008

In the Structural Geology lecture and laboratory students learn the use of spherical projections, one of the basic tools for the geometrical analysis of geologic field data, and they study the geometry of folded rock bodies. In the Field Methods course, they put their classroom and laboratory knowledge to practical use by collecting orientation data in the field, and applying that to a real world situation.
