All aid applicants must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). NYS residents should receive a TAP application from Albany after filing the FAFSA. Preliminary aid eligibility estimate letters are sent to all accepted freshman aid applicants, mid-March through May for college planning purposes. Official awards letters are mailed out after April 1st to complete aid applicants who have paid a deposit.
TRANSFER STUDENTS
All transfer students must file the FAFSA with the SUNY New Paltz federal school code.
CONTINUING STUDENTS
Continuing students should file a FAFSA or renewal FAFSA as early as possible for the upcoming academic year. The suggested filing date is 4/1. A TAP application will be sent to NYS residents from HESC in Albany, after filing the FAFSA. However if the student's FAFSA data has not significantly changed from the previous year, their TAP award will be certified automatically without having to fill out another TAP application.
