Behind the scenes

“A Day at New Paltz” was created to show the vast array of activities – academic, athletic, social, or otherwise – that take place on our campus in just one day.

“I wanted the video to show the range of things that happen at New Paltz in a single day and the variety of places where those things happen,” said video producer Michael Koczanski, who spearheaded the project. “It was great to get so much cooperation from the professors and coaches who let us videotape in their classes and practices.”

Every aspect of the video was completed in-house by New Paltz staff and faculty, including the accompanying music created by New Paltz music professor Bob Lukomski.

“When Mike Koczanski invited me to provide music for the ‘Day at New Paltz’ video, I was pleased to represent not only the university’s music department, but also the cultural community of New Paltz with my contribution,” said Lukomski.

Students also had an opportunity to assist with the production of the video, offering them valuable experience in preparing for their post-college careers.

“Working on this project with Mike was fantastic,” said Johnny Lugo ’14 (Digital Media Production), an intern in the Digital Media office who assisted with the production. “I enjoyed working with a team of professionals, working throughout the whole day to get great shots of the university. I also learned some of the business aspects of making the video as well.”
