How does using new technology ignite your learning and help you prepare for your career?

New technology makes my learning process more dynamic and interesting. Technology helps to transform a traditional learning environment into an interactive community classroom. By using technology in the classroom, learning becomes more real and immediate.

My exposure to technology in the classroom today, enables me to prepare for the way I will teach my students in the future. Becoming familiar and comfortable with new technology allows me to think about and constantly reassess my approach to teaching and to my career. To engage students, and to maintain their interest, the approach to teaching must keep pace with their interests and their learning styles.

Through the WetPaint wiki I have been able to instantly communicate with art teachers and their students in the real world and in real time. The wiki creates a feeling of community.

It is a fantastic teaching tool that enables me to practice what I have learned by posting the lessons I have created and share them with the art teachers and their students we worked with on the East Coast/West Coast Project in Curriculum and Instruction, an art education course taught by Margaret Johnson. I was able to get feedback on lesson plans I wrote and ask questions of the teachers and students.
