Faces of New Paltz
Why do you think the Master of Fine Arts Metal program was selected by U.S. News & World Report as the number one metal/jewelry graduate program in the nation?

There is a significant presence of New Paltz alumni, educators, artists and designers – making important contributions to the field of metal and jewelry. Myra and I have developed a program that is responsive to the dynamics of arts and design. Making something by hand has meaning beyond self-expression; it is an argument for an idea that you believe in.

We regard students in the program as colleagues who are at the beginning of their professional careers. The Master of Fine Arts is a terminal degree and after graduation, we're the students’ peers - applying for the same grants, shows and galleries. Our teaching styles are collaborative, and we share the processes of discovery and direction with them.
