Why do you think SUNY New Paltz received the “hottest small state school in America” designation?

"SUNY New Paltz was voted the Hottest Small State School in America because it provides students, as well as faculty, staff, and visitors, an opportunity to experience a top-notch college atmosphere filled with energetic fun-loving students, in a beautiful country setting, in a town with a great night life only 90 miles from NYC. Students are able to travel home to NYC and Long Island with little difficulty which helps maintain an "at-home feeling" amongst the college community. Also SUNY New Paltz is a very selective, professional school which creates an aura of pride amongst our community members. For the local village residents, SUNY New Paltz has an amazing positive interaction with the surrounding area. Besides contributing tremendously to the local economy, College groups are continually organizing projects to help improve the area.
SUNY New Paltz is a small town school with big city spark."

Inspiration: "Finding inspiration for the work I do is not hard. My sole inspiration for my job is keeping our students, staff, and visitors safe."

Years at SUNY New Paltz: "I have always been around SUNY New Paltz as I grew up down the road from the campus. However, my formal relationship with the college began in 2002 when I started at the New York State University Police Department."

Community Involvement: "I joined the New Paltz Fire Department at the age of 16 as part of a program designed to increase interest in the fire department among high school students. My involvement has continued to grow over the years. I have served in a number of roles with the fire department, including trustee and my current position as captain."
