Originally from Punjab, India, Preeti Singh is used to moving around. Growing up, her family often moved because of her father's business. After she graduated high school, her family moved to Prague, where Preeti attended the University of New York in Prague, an institution affiliated with SUNY New Paltz.
"I was lucky," said Preeti, who received a scholarship to study at New Paltz.
As an undergraduate student at New Paltz, Preeti studied business and was very involved with the School of Business, where she worked as a student assistant and was involved in the Dean's Student Advisory Board.
After graduating in 2003, Preeti wanted to pursue an MBA, but yearned to experience working in the United States as well. "It was different, because I had friends who were still studying and worked with professors that I had as a student, but I learned a lot from the experience," said Preeti.
After a year as acting director, Preeti returned to New Paltz as a graduate student, where she is now pursuing her MBA in finance. "I'm more interested in marketing, but I think having a background in finance will give me an advantage," said Preeti.
