Dr. Jennifer Pardo (Montclair State University) "How did I pick up that accent? Phonetic convergence in spoken communication" Have you ever wondered why certain people just appear to pick up accents wherever they go? Dr. Pardo will discuss this phenomenon, called phonetic convergence, by which speakers productions start to resemble specific characteristics of speech from their linguistic surroundings.
