At least one half of your English major must be completed at New Paltz. Freshman Composition credits are not included in the major requirement. Courses taken as pass/fail or receiving a grade below C- cannot be counted toward the major.

Each student is required to complete at least 4 college-level courses in a foreign language, preferably French or German, or demonstrate a reading knowledge of the language through examination.
