Boat Tour on the Hudson
10/26/2009
On October 16, 2009, the SUNY New Paltz IEEE chapter enjoyed a group event at West Point dubbed "Boat Tour on the Hudson". During the event, SUNY New Paltz engineering students met members from IEEE West Point chapter, Berkshire and Mid Hudson sections. The air was brisk, but the environment was beautiful as the group of engineers and students traveled down the Hudson and enjoyed lunch on one of the prime days for enjoying the fall colors.
Following the boat tour, the Department of Electrical Engineering at West Point offered a talk on their new course titled "Disruptive Technology". The course aims at teaching how the existing advanced commercial technology can also be used for less noble causes, causing security concerns. Following the talk, a comprehensive tour of the West Point Electrical Engineering undergraduate laboratories was provided, including Robotics, Power, Electronics, and Computer Networking.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at SUNY New Paltz deeply thanks Colonel Greg Kilby and his colleagues at West Point and IEEE Mid-Hudson Section for making this event possible.
