Engineering Story

Engineering Student is the Recipient of Multiple Scholarships

12/16/2008

Congratulations to Senior Electrical Engineering student, Clara Enuma, for being the recipient of the following scholarships this semester:

¨      IBM Science Award Scholarship through the Scholars Mentorship Program (SMP, SUNY NP)

¨      The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation program scholarship (LSAMP, SUNY NP)

¨      The Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program scholarship (CSTEP, SUNY)

¨      The United Illuminating Foundation scholarship (UI)

As part of her application for the first three awards, Clara wrote essays that entailed political, social or economical issues faced by a group of people or a race.

The last scholarship was awarded to Clara as a result of her last summer internship with the United Illuminating Company, New Haven, Connecticut. This scholarship “recognizes promising students who have demonstrated ability and interest in careers in engineering.” The company indicated that they were “pleased to recognize and support Clara’s hard work and academic success.’

Clara recommends that more SUNY New Paltz engineering students take advantage of different scholarship opportunities that exists.
