Welcome to Dr. Ying Lin - our new Engineering Professor

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is pleased to welcome Dr. Ying Lin as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Lin joined the department in January 2008. From October 2006 to April 2007, Dr. Lin was a Visiting Scientist at the Network Security Lab in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington.

Dr. Lin obtained her Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Syracuse University in 2007. Her dissertation research focused on designing optimal decision rules for resource-constrained wireless sensor networks. Her research work has produced eleven published journal articles and peer-reviewed conference papers. In 2007, Dr. Lin was awarded the All University Doctorate Prize from Syracuse University for excellence in academic and dissertation research.


Dr. Izadi, the Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering says of Dr. Lin, “In addition to her excellent scholarly ability, Dr. Lin has a passion for teaching. I think she is an excellent addition to our department and will help us serve our electrical and computer engineering students even better, in our effort to provide the best undergraduate electrical and computer engineering education within the State of New York”.

Dr. Lin’s current research interests include network security, statistical signal processing in wireless sensor networks and wireless communications systems, and radar signal processing. She is currently teaching Wireless Communications and Engineering Statistics.
