Welcome to the Engineering Department

Major in Engineering!

With degrees in electrical, mechanical and computer engineering, our electrical and computer engineering programs are fully accredited by the Accrediting Board of Engineering & Technology (ABET). New Paltz also offers students the chance to earn both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical or computer engineering in just five years, as well as a five-year MS/MBA program. With a highly focused engineering education in a small-classroom setting with personal attention, our labs are taught by professors – not teaching assistants. In addition to internship opportunities, co-ops, and established relationships with industry partners, our engineering majors garner the cultural, social, and communication skills that only a liberal arts college can provide. Visit our alumni page to see some of the great companies at which our graduates are employed, as well as the prestigious graduate schools they have gone on to attend.

Engineering News

On Thursday September 11th, 45 student and faculty members of Women In Science and Engineering = (WISE) attended an Open House event on campus.  The group's focus is to grow the number of women in sciences, math, computer science and engineering fields through networking with peers, alumni, and mentors, outreach to local schools and clubs and recruitment to build a strong group.  The first event organized by this group is a bus trip out to the Maker Faire event in NYC on Saturday, September 20th.  There are multiple additional events planned, including a nuclear power plant trip and a distinguished lecture series.  For more information, please contact group faculty adviser Dr. Dahle at
