Guidelines
1-6 & B-2 Curriculum

Beginning Fall 2006 the following are the guidelines for declaring a major in the Elementary Education Curriculum:

1. A 2.75 overall GPA
   
2. At least 30 college credits and no more than 75 (including in-progress) credits.
   
3. 30 documented fieldwork hours for appropriate age group (click here for pre-program fieldwork form).
   

   Some suggestions:
   Camps
   Substitute Teaching
   Teacher's Aide
   Afterschool programs
   Teaching Religious Education
   Fieldwork from Community Colleges

4. A scheduled appointment with the Elementary Education Advisor - (845) 257-2807, SCB 112
   
5. Be prepared to declare an approved liberal arts major related to the teacher standards within the elementary education curriculum.
