The image in the masthead is a cyclopic planarian (one-eyed) that was created by treating a regenerating tail fragment (Dugesia tigrina) with the veratrol alkoloid cyclopamine. Cyclopamine disrupts the hedgehog pathway. The single eye-spot is midline on the left.
